Disruption looming for Auckland buses

05:49 am on 7 September 2009

Major disruptions to Auckland bus services are looming from Wednesday unless bus companies and drivers can resolve a pay dispute.

The combined bus driver unions have threatened a work to rule from 4am on Wednesday, but have now been told that drivers will be locked out.

That would mean a suspension of services for six companies: Metrolink, Go West, Waka Pacific, North Star, Link, and City Circuit.

A spokesperson for the companies say they have offered a 9.9% pay increase over three years. The unions say they want a 4% rise this year.

Both sides say they are ready to continue negotiations.
