Georgia qualified for their third Rugby World Cup by beating Russia last year to retain the European Nations Cup and claim the top qualifying spot.

The Georgian forwards impressed with their toughness on their debut in 2003 and should continue to base their game around their forwards, many of whom play in France.

Several of the 30-man squad play for Top 14 sides such as Castres, Brive, Toulon, Montpellier and Clermont.

Georgia are in Pool B with England, as they were in 2003 when then-England captain Martin Johnson paid credit to their tenacity.

In 2007, Georgia comprehensively beat Namibia for their only World Cup win and came within four points of a huge upset against Ireland.

They are coached by Scot Richard Dixon

Georgia open their tournament against Scotland in Invercargill on 14 September, before taking on England in Dunedin, Romania and Argentina in Palmerston North.

The match against Romania will be the one they are targeting for their second World Cup win.
