The man was at a friend's home in Mount Eden on 16 November at about 10.30am when the offender entered the property.

He tied the victim up while searching the house, and later made away with a "significant amount of items" before fleeing in a silver or white hatchback-type car.

Police described him as a male Polynesian, possibly in his late 30s. He had black curly hair, a moustache and beard, and was about 165cm tall, and had a muscular build.

He was also wearing a black cap backwards on his head.

Police said the man was "very dangerous" and were working to find him.

Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
