Tonga PM appoints two new ministers, takes over foreign affairs and defence

Tonga's Prime Minister, Dr Feleti Sevele, has appointed two new ministers and made temporary appointments to cover vacancies in his Cabinet.

The new ministers are Prince Tu'ipelehake, who becomes the Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Forestry, and the former Chief Secretary to the Government, 'Eseta Fusitu'a, will head the Ministry of Information and Communication.

The Prime Minister has also made the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health, Dr Viliami Tangi, the acting Minister for Police, Prisons and Fire Services.

The Minister for Lands, Survey, Natural Resources and Environment, the Honourable Tuita is the acting Governor of Vava'u.

Dr Sevele himself has assumed responsibility for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Defence.
