The former Olympic boardsailing champion Barbara Kendall believes Jon-Paul Tobin probably deserves the Olympic berth ahead of defending champion Tom Ashley, but wouldn't be suprised if neither is named tomorrow.
The New Zealand Olympic Committee will name the first members of the sailing team for London tomorrow.
Yachting New Zealand's Olympics Programmes Manager Jez Fanstone says the selectors are still involved in discussions after Tobin finished 5th and Ashley 6th at the World Championships off Fremantle at the weekend.
Kendall believes Tobin has had the better of Ashley this year, however she says the selectors may wait until after the RS:X boardsailing world championships in Spain in March before finalising the Olympic selection.
New Zealand claimed 9 Olympic qualifying spots at the World Championships.
