With the dust now settled after a turbulent few weeks in Port Moresby, Bougainville hopes the Joint Supervisory Body, which includes the Papua New Guinea Government, will meet soon.
The JSB is the key meeting at which both governments nut out issues and comply with the requirements of the Peace Agreement.
The body was due to meet at the end of November but this was delayed when Port Moresby was rocked by a political crisis, which was resolved earlier this week.
Now Bougainville President, Ishmael Toroama, said he was just waiting for a call from his PNG counterpart James Marape.
"I understand that during the political instability that there should be not much going but at the same time, for me, I would like to see that happening. It's a disappointment but tht's how it is. So I will keep [at it] from my end for the people of Bougainville to make sure the JSB continues."
Toroama said it was possible the meeting could go ahead next week but given the proximity to Christmas he thought this was unlikely.
The JSB meeting will prepare the ground for negotiations over the outcome of last year's Bougainville referendum of independence.
It was also to discuss Port Moresby devolving powers to Bougainville covering taxation, finance, fishing and forestry.
