New Zealand avenge Cup semi final loss in Dubai

The New Zealand Sevens team has avenged last weekend's Cup semi final loss to England in Dubai with a 19-7 win in pool play on the first day of the second leg of the IRB World series in George.

In South Africa the world champions have swept Pool A with other defeats of Tunisia 36 nil and France 40-5.

Portugal has beaten Samoa, Wales and Kenya to make the Cup quarterfinals for the second time in its World Series history.

New Zealand will face USA in the Cup quarterfinals while Fiji will take on Samoa.

In other final eight Cup match ups England will battle Dubai winner South Africa and Portugal will clash with Argentina.

Fiji produced a clean sweep of Pool C, 24-4 winner against Zimbabwe, 31 nil against Scotland and a 26-7 win against Argentina.

South Africa, has also been impressive with a clean sweep in pool B, clocking up victories against USA, Georgia and finishing 17-7 victors over Australia.

That has finished off Australia's top flight ambitions after it was upset 28-26 by USA.

England started strongly with impressive wins against Tunisia, 42-7, and France, 21-7.
