Roger Federer of Switzerland has won the French Open for the first time, defeating Robin Soderling of Sweden in the final at Roland Garros.
It was Federer's 14th grand slam tennis title, equalling the record held by American Pete Sampras.
He has now won five times at Wimbledon and the US Open, and three Australian Opens.
Federer, 27, won 6-1, 7-6, (7-1), 6-4 in one hour and 55 minutes.
He joins Fred Perry, Don Budge, Roy Emerson, Rod Laver and Andre Agassi as the only men to have won all four Grand Slam titles.
