A vehicle stolen from New Caledonia's civil security command has been found in a degraded state.
The car was taken from a secured parking lot in the night to Monday and hours later was spotted with flashing emergency lights about 80 kilometres north of Noumea.
The local public broadcaster said the vehicle was not burnt and police were investigating.
It was the third vehicle of the fire service to be stolen in the past few days, with the other thefts occurring in Ponerihouen and Koumac.
There have been no arrests.
