Serco's operations at Wiri Prison will be included as part of a wider review of the company's performance at Mt Eden Prison, Corrections Minister Sam Lotu-Iiga says.
Mt Eden prison has been the subject of several complaints about organised fighting, contraband and the death of an inmate, and three investigations are under way.
Private company Serco runs Mt Eden and also operates Wiri Prison.
Mr Lotu-Iiga said he had no concerns about the operations at Wiri but they would be looked at.
"We've got a review in place that first takes into account the issues at Mt Eden prison, that's where a lot of the serious allegations are coming from," he said.
"The second part of that review also takes into account all prisons, so [Wiri] will be part of that."
Mr Lotu-liga said he had been reassured Serco's management of Wiri Prison was going well.
But Labour Party corrections spokesperson Kelvin Davis said he was not as confident.
"The same outfit runs it, so why wouldn't you be worried?
"There's been issues in the UK, there's issues in Australia, there's been issues at Mt Eden and I don't think that just a couple of kilometres between Mt Eden and Auckland south are going to be a barrier to issues," he said.
