The Samoa Observer reported the charges are not related to the pig's head incident but alleged offending under the Immigration Act.

Talalelei Pauga is accused of giving false information on his arrival card when he returned to Samoa last month.

He is scheduled to appear in court on 5 March.

Mr Pauga was charged by Australian Police with disturbing the peace when he threw the pig's head but was later discharged without conviction.

He had been summoned by the matai council of his village, Manono-tai, over the incident but the council decided not to punish him.

Mr Pauga told the council he threw the pig's head to protest corruption in Samoa's ruling party.
