New Zealand remain well in contention to qualify for the SailGP grand final race in San Francisco after solid returns in fleet racing on Sunday.

The New Zealand boat were fourth, seventh and third in the three races to remain second overall, with two final fleet races on Monday to determine which three boats which will line up in the $US1 million ($1.6NZ million) winner-take-all race.

Series leaders Australia - who have already qualified for the final - produced two wins and a third placing to cement their favouritism.

The other big movers were Great Britain, who moved past France into third place overall thanks to a win and two second placings.

The Peter Burling-skippered New Zealanders could still be shunted out of the top three if they struggle in the two remaining fleet races.
