The Australian batsman Mike Hussey has been confirmed as the replacement for the injured fast bowler Doug Bollinger in the defending champions World Cup squad.

Hussey was named in the original 15-man squad before being left at home bvecasue the selectors were concerned he wouldn't recover in time from a hamstring injury.

The 35-year-old's omission caused an uproar in Australia, and his reprieve comes after he scored just 30 runs in two innings in his Sheffield Shield comeback match at the weekend.

Fast bowler Dirk Nannes will also travel to India as a standby player to train with the Australian squad and be available in case another fast bowler gets injured.
