Any more Queensland fruit flies lurking in the Whangarei area are proving elusive.
Latest surveillance results have revealed no further signs of the pest, regarded as a significant threat to the horticulture sector.
So far, the only sighting has been the single male fruitfly found in a trap last week, which triggered the current search and destroy operation.
Crews from the Ministry for Primary Industries and AsureQuality are continuing the task of checking traps and testing fruit and vegetables in the control zones around the initial find.
Compliance head Andrew Coleman says the operation will continue for another week.
