Fiji Budget passed

After weeks of the government and opposition in Fiji locking horns over how the economy should be managed, the national Budget has been passed in Parliament.

The Bill for an Act to appropriate a sum of $US1.7 billion for the financial year ending July 31, 2021 was enacted by the house on Monday 27-24 votes.

Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, also announced a $US930 million stimulus package to fund the country's recovery from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sayed-Khaiyum said the budget had been designed to incentivise the people of Fiji.
