A new initiative aiming to bring more young people into the growing tourism industry has been launched in Auckland.
Go with Tourism is an online platform connecting jobseekers and employers while providing support and feedback for youth interested in the sector.
Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) spearheaded the initiative to help shift perceptions about careers in tourism and prepare for growing job vacancies.
ATEED destination general manager Steve Armitage said the industry was facing a growing skills shortage and that young people would play a critical role in addressing this.
Mr Armitage said all of the 100 businesses who had signed up to the campaign were committed to paying the living wage within three years.
