An American Samoa legislator Larry Sanitoa says he does not support another delay in the next minimum wage increase.
The territory's congresswoman Aumua Amata is trying to push legislation through Congress to delay the federally madated 50 cent hike in the minimum wage which is due to go into effect next month.
Mr Sanitoa, who represents the most populated district in the territory, says low income earners have not had an increase in six years while the cost of living, taxes and fees have all increased.
Aumua Amata is seeking a one year moratorium on the next increase and is confident this will be approved by the US Congress before the current law freezing local wages expires on September the 30th.
