Two Australians have been detained by police on Nauru.
In a statement, the government says the pair were awaiting deportation after they were detained under Nauru's immigration laws.
Australian media were reporting the pair were employed at the Australian-run asylum seeker detention centre on the island.
The Guardian reported they were officers for the security contractor, Wilson Security, and were detained on Sunday.
It said neither was accused of crime or wrongdoing, and followed a decision by Wilson Security not to hire a local Nauruan as a security officer.
In its statement, the Nauru Government said it reserved the right to revoke any visa by a foreign national if deemed to be in its national interest.
