A high-profile Dunedin man in court for firearm offences is facing new charges including possessing hundreds of bullets.
The 67-year-old has interim name suppression and appeared in Dunedin District Court on Tuesday.
He was originally charged with possessing a .22 calibre rifle, three tasers, a sawn-off shotgun, failing to help police during a search warrant and driving while his licence was suspended.
The new charges include unlawfully possessing a firearm and hundreds of bullets for different firearms, and possessing cannabis for the supply.
The ammunition included 187 assorted calibre bullets, 264 shotgun shells, 335 .22 bullets and 21 9mm bullets.
These charges were filed on Tuesday.
The man has entered no plea and will remain in custody until his court appearance next month.
The charges follow a police raid of the man's home earlier this month where police said they seized firearms, ammunition, drugs, stun guns and cash.
