A man is in a serious condition after being stabbed several times near Wellington Hospital early Thursday morning.
In a statement, police said they do not know the exact location of the assault but it was believed to have taken place around Mein, Daniell or Constable Streets at approximately 4.30am.
The 32-year-old may have walked to the hospital, where he was in a serious condition, police said.
Police describe him as being just over 160 centimetres tall, of solid build and of Māori descent.
He was wearing red shoes, grey trousers and a blue checked shirt.
Police want anyone who saw someone fitting that description walking toward the hospital or who has information about a fight in the area to contact them using the reference 230302/1453.
