Man charged over armed home invasion in Otaki

The police in Levin have arrested and charged a man in relation to a violent home invasion in Otaki last week.

It is alleged he entered a house early last Saturday armed with a gun and assaulted another man.

The victim managed to escape through a window but suffered a cut to his head and extensive bruising.

The police carried out a search warrant on Tuesday, and found a sawn-off shotgun.

The 43-year-old has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm, and will apear in court later this month.

He will appear in the Levin District Court at the end of the month.
