The Cook Islands Minister of Agriculture wants immediate action to curb the impact of invasive species.

This comes after imported avocado trees are believed to be the source of the destructive black twig borer now present in the country.

Minister Kiriau Turepu told Don Wiseman he has only been aware of the impact of the invasive species within the past two weeks.
