The body of a man who fell from a ship at the Port of Tauranga has been found.
The man, believed to be a Chinese national, was a deckhand on the ship.
He fell 10m metres from the deck into the harbour at about 9.20 this morning, and did not resurface.
Navy divers found the body near the ship just after 12pm, police said.
Bay of Plenty District Command Centre spokesperson Senior Sergeant Karl Konlechner said it appeared to be a "tragic accident".
He said the man worked on a ship that was berthed in Tauranga.
WorkSafe had been told about the incident.
