The Fiji National University will become the Pacific hub for training multi-disciplinary users of ultrasound.
The college was selected by the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology as the site for its future Pacific Region Centre of Education.
Raymond Keshwan, Head of the Department of Medical Imaging and Anatomy at the college in Suva, said this as a milestone achievement for the college.
He said the new centre, which will begin operations by mid-2019, is expected to help professionals in diagnosing, monitoring, assessing and treatment of diseases.
Mr Keshwan said the centre will also use facilities in medical imaging at the college, focussing on the region's needs in the field of ultrasound.
