A truck crash has spilled tonnes of glue on to a road in South Auckland, causing long traffic delays as crews worked on the clean-up.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said the truck was transporting a container of 22 tonnes of carpet glue in Wiri.
The vehicle crashed and rolled onto its side, spilling the sticky substance over the side of the road and part of one lane.
The southbound on-ramp from Cavendish Drive to the Southern Motorway (SH20) was closed, as was the left southbound lane on Cavendish Drive under the SH20 overbridge, Waka Kotahi said.
Fire crews were attempting to block nearby drains to prevent glue getting in.
Other lanes wouild be closed temporarily throughout the morning as the spillge was cleaned up.
Waka Kotahi advised motorists to avoid the area or allow extra time for diversions and delays.
