Fonterra recalls butter after final metal found

21:58 pm on 13 February 2012

Fonterra has begun a voluntary recall of two butter products after consumers complained of finding a fine metal object in the butter.

The affected products are 500gm packs of Mainland Salted Butter, with a best before date of 10 January 2013, and 500gm packs of Anchor Salted butter, with a best before date of 26 January 2013.

Fonterra Brands managing director Peter McClure says no-one has been injured by the products and the recall is a precautionary measure.

He says the products should not be used but should be returned to the store where bought, along with the packaging including the batch code. A full refund will be given.

Recall notices for both products have also been placed in daily papers across the country and authorities have also been notified.
