The Foreign Affairs Minister says the government is doing all it can to support the two New Zealand families with loved ones on board the missing Gulf Livestock 1.
The search and rescue mission for the cargo vessel has been suspended because of bad weather, with Japanese authorities saying no time has been set for resumption.
Forty of the 43 crewmen remain lost at sea, including two New Zealanders.
