A roading project promised for the Kāpiti Coast under the previous government is not going ahead.

The Transport Agency has ditched plans to build a full interchange at Peka Peka to link locals with the Kāpiti Expressway.
Spokesperson Emma Speight said while she understood that locals would be disappointed, the agency had to weigh up the cost, which was estimated at between $22 million and $29m.
She said any safety concerns would be fixed by the Peka Peka-to-Ōtaki Expressway, which would decrease traffic on Peka Peka Road.
In 2017, then-transport minister Simon Bridges promised the interchange would be built.
