A church minister in Fiji has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for the rape and sexual assault of three women.
Pastor Waisake Tulavu was found guilty last week of raping and sexually assaulting three members of his church.
The High Court ruled Tulavu had raped two women and sexually assaulted the third woman between May and September of 2018.
Justice Daniel Goundar said instead of upholding the trust and security of his role as a pastor, Tulavu had engaged in a conduct that had shocked the public conscience.
Tulavu was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for four counts of rape and a term of four years imprisonment for the fifth count of sexual assault, to be served concurrently.
He will be eligible for parole after serving 12 years.
