The deal would see Spark offer Sky Sport Now as well as its own sports streaming service, Spark Sport, to its customers from 16 November.

The initial agreement between the two companies is for up to six months.

Sky chief executive Martin Stewart said it was following a strategy of partnerships to get its content into the hands of as many viewers as possible.

"We are open to working with partners who can help us put Sky in the hands of every New Zealander, as is evidenced by our long term partnership with Vodafone, and our partnership with TVNZ to deliver the Tokyo Olympics to New Zealanders.

"This sport streaming partnership with Spark builds on the success of the Neon wholesale arrangement, through which we deliver Sky's entertainment streaming service to Spark customers."

The terms of the new partnership were confidential.

A spokesperson for Spark said the bundled content would be offered to its monthly broadband and pay monthly mobile offer customers.

The combined sport package would cost $49.99 per month.
