Talks are underway to launch a stockmarket for small and medium businesses.
Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce said he's holding talks with the New Zealand Stock Exchange and the Financial Markets Authority and other parties to enable mid-market-sized listings.
Business leaders have been pushing for new ways of raising capital for mid-sized companies that are too small or can't afford to list on the main stock market.
Mr Joyce was in Auckland on Wednesday for the launch of the sixth business growth agenda progress report, called building capital markets.
He also announced a new $60 million underwrite facility for new ventures through the New Zealand Venture Investment Fund.
