A Christchurch landlord has been fined for failing to provide a compliant gas supply and risking the safety of her tenants.
Lina Liu, who owns two boarding houses, was found to have a leaking gas supply at one of them.
Neither property had working smoke alarms and tenants were not given the required advice on the level of insulation in the boarding houses.
Ms Liu was fined $4000 and ordered to fix the gas leak.
The landlord is also subject to a restraining order which means that if she breaks the law again within the next two years she could be subject to criminal charges.
