Constable Matthew Hunt was murdered by Eli Epiha in June last year and was sent to jail today for at least 27 years.
The judge told him the name Epiha will be remembered for the cowardly killing of an unarmed police officer - a shame he said he and his whānau will have to bear into the future.
Rejecting Epiha's remorse - the judge told him his actions showed no concern for anyone, but himself.
