Police are staying tight-lipped about an allegation of assault against the MP for Northland Mike Sabin.
The Sunday Star Times reports that an allegation was made about an unnamed incident in Northland and later taken up by police in the Waitemata district of Auckland.
The crime manager for Waitemata police District Detective Inspector Bruce Scott would not confirm or deny that an investigation was underway, or even that a complaint had been made.
The Prime Minister's office said it was aware of the media reports of the case but did not know about a complaint.
Mr Sabin, who is a former police officer and was elected to parliament in 2011, could not be reached for comment.
