A company run by one of New Zealand's wealthiest men has been ordered to pay more than $45,000 for unfairly dismissing an employee.
The Employment Relations Authority said Kinloch Lodge Holdings had no grounds to make a sales manager redundant.
The company owns two luxury lodges in Bay of Plenty - Treetops Lodge in Rotorua and The Kinloch Club in Taupō.
One of its directors is millionaire property developer John Sax.
The authority said the woman, who was hired as a sales manager in October 2015, said she was undermined and bullied by a contractor.
In February 2016, Mr Sax emailed her proposing to disestablish her position, saying the company could no longer afford to keep her.
She was made redundant the following month.
But the authority said there was no evidence the company's financial situation had changed during her employment and she was unjustifiably dismissed.
