A man has died following a house fire near Dunedin last night.

Emergency services were called to the property in Palmerston at 11.15pm last night.
Firefighters found the man unconscious in the house and pulled him from the building.
CPR was conducted, but failed to revive him.
The Waitaki District Council said the man was a community housing occupant.
Tenants living next door had been temporarily located as investigators examined the scene, the council said.
Police are currently working with fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
Staff will remain at the scene today to carry out a scene examination.
