New Zealand rowers take short break after world champs success

10:17 am on 5 September 2011

The New Zealand rowing team rounded off their most successful world championship campaign with another two medals in Slovenia overnight.

A silver medal for the Storm Uru and Peter Taylor in the men's lightweight double scull and a bronze for single sculler Emma Twigg brought New Zealand's final medal count to nine, with 12 boats qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics, a record number for New Zealand.

However there's no slowing down for the team with Rowing New Zealand's high performance manager Alan Cotter confirming they'll take a short break before launching into their preparation for next year's London Games.
