Seven men have been rescued after their boat overturned while crossing the Kawhia Bar in Waikato today.
The Coastguard launched a search and rescue operation involving Raglan Coastguard and the Auckland Coastguard's patrol plane when the vessel failed to file a report saying it had successfully crossed the sand bar.
The boaties made it to shore near Opapaka Point.
One had a minor head injury and another was taken to hospital by helicopter with leg injuries.
The police said the men were well-prepared for an emergency and activated their locator beacon.
