An official at the Office of Petroleum Management in American Samoa says consumers won't see a drop in the price of petrol immediately.
This follows complaints by some residents that despite recent falls in the price of oil the cost of petrol continues to rise
However, an official of the Office of Petroleum Management, Sione Kava, says while the country is still suffering from the oil price rise of December 2006, they won't see the effect of the January drop in prices until February.
He says it's not unusual that the price per barrel of crude may be dropping but the cost of refining remains high and increasing.
