Passengers on inter-island ferries in Samoan waters may soon have a woman at the helm after the country's first sea captain graduated in Apia last week.
Thirty-year-old Ilalegagana Kenesareta Moananu was among 136 people to graduate from the Samoa Shipping Corporation's Maritime Academy.
Newsline Samoa reported she's now able to navigate the ferries and operate them safely as well as managing crews and supervising loading and unloading.
