A New Plymouth suburb where drums containing toxic chemicals were found, is due to get a makeover.
Residents of Marfell will have the opportunity to say how they would like to see the area redesigned at the launch of the project, Future Marfell, on Wednesday.
Marfell is a poor area that does not have a good reputation, since the toxic contamination scare in May.
Housing New Zealand and New Plymouth District Council are funding the upgrade aimed at attracting people to the area.
Housing New Zealand has about 189 homes in the suburb.
A budget for the project is still to be finalised.
