PNG police deputy chief says he's been defamed by a newspaper

Papua New Guinea's acting deputy commissioner of police, Fred Yakasa, says he will sue the National newspaper for defamation following an article claiming he was being investigated for his business dealings.

He says he's not under investigation for any alleged business dealings and says the unsubstantiated article is very damaging.

Mr Yakasa says he's a dedicated policeman who's worked his way up the ranks and won't allow what he calls gutter journalism to destroy his name, reputation and career.
