More charges laid over abuse of bobby calves

More charges have been laid over the abuse of bobby calves in Waikato as seen on video circulated last year.

Ten charges were laid against a person in March; now four representative charges have been laid against another person and a company under the Animal Welfare Act and the Animal Products Act.

The images of calves being left in roadside crates, thrown onto trucks and abused at a slaughterhouse triggered an investigation by the Ministry for Primary Industries - an inquiry that is still going on.

The first hearing of the charges is in the Huntly District Court next month.
