Organizers of a Guam trade mission in Manila have reported strong interest from Philippine businesses in on-island investments.
Philippine companies attending include Petron, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, Dole Asia and the American Eye Center.
Guam businessman Peter Sgro says the fact that Guam is a part of the U.S. is helpful as is the military buildup but the conference also emphasised agriculture, aquaculture, real estate development and health care-related recruitment.
He says plans are also underway to create a Guam-Philippine Business Council.
The Pacific Daily News reports attendance at this week's conference exceeded the 150 limit of delegates.
