Thursday's headlines: Students and instructor still missing; property wars in Hamilton; Olympic sailors Peter Burling and Blair Tuke win New Zealand's 100th Olympic medal.

The New Zealand Herald leads with pictures of Spotswood College students being rescued from Paritutu Rock in New Plymouth on Wednesday afternoon. Two other students who were swept out to sea after slipping and falling are still missing, along with a rock climbing instructor who jumped in after them.

The paper also reports on previously suppressed details of Callum Boe's sentencing in Queenstown last September.

Waikato Times

The Waikato Times leads with property wars in Hamilton as low interest rates and competitive bank mortgage schemes cause a flurry of first-home buyers to enter the real estate market.

With newer suburbs priced out of many buyers' price range, older areas are enjoying a revival.

Five senior police officers sent to the London Olympics could end up cost the taxppayer more than $150,000. Their accommodation alone is costing nearly $900 per person each night.
