The New Zealand Rugby Union's decision not to give World Cup pool matches to Fiji and Samoa in 2011, has been supported by the former Auckland coach.

Wayne Pivac, who is the coach for Fiji's national 15's, says he can understand New Zealand's decision to hold the World Cup in one country.

He says while some people may not agree with him, Pacific nations still have some way to go before they're ready to play host.

Pivac says says there is still a need for proper facilities in the Pacific, so he does understand New Zealand's decision to keep the World Cup in one country.
