Unexplained death of man in Invercargill on Sunday referred to coroner

The unexplained death of a man whose body was found in Invercargill on Sunday morning has been referred to the coroner.

Quinn David McIntyre, 42, from Hāwea Flat, was found dead near the intersection of Sydney Street and Andrews Street shortly before 9.30am on 19 May.

A post mortem has been completed and the findings have been sent to the coroner.

Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

McIntyre's family were being provided with support at this difficult time and had asked for privacy, police said in a statement.

Police thanked members of the public who were impacted by the road closures for their patience and understanding.
