A 2.9 million U.S. dollar shopping mall that opened in the Fiji capital of Suva is expected to give the growing business district a lift.
Suva Chamber of Commerce secretary, Sunil Sharma, says the complex in Nabua would provide greater opportunities for new and existing businesses by offering quality office space, thus attracting a wider range of retailers to the area.
He told the Fiji Times that such developments would help curb problems of overcrowding and ease traffic and parking congestion in the satellite business centre.
The owner of the complex, Abhay Nand, says the shopping mall boasts a four-storey complex, with 38 retail outlets all of which had been taken.
He says the complex already has a mini-hardware outlet, restaurants, a coffee shop, doctor's surgery, dentist, a fruit outlet, a factory outlet and a liquor shop among others.
