In Focus - Labour Party leader Andrew Little tells Morning Report his promise to put hundred of millions of dollars into Auckland light rail is not pork barrrel politics.
The proposal to fund half the central city to Mt Roskill light rail system comes as candidates battle it out in the Mount Roskill by-election.
Mr Little rejected National Party accusations of pork-barrel politics. He told RNZ's Susie Ferguson that transport was a major issue in the Mt Roskill by-election and voters were expecting parties to come up with solutions.
Mr Little says that by refusing to committ to funding half the project, Auckland mayor Phil Goff is simply doing what local government does, and seeing if central government will fund the whole project.
