Evans Pass Road in the Christchurch suburb of Sumner is being closed for two days to allow work to repair it to continue.
The road is closed to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians between the Summit Road and Upper Sumnervale Drive on Saturday and Sunday.
Depending on the weather, the closure may be extended.
